Around 300 Attend Highpointe at Rebecca Grand Opening

The Grand Opening of Highpointe at Rebecca, held September 23, 2017, was a huge success! Approximately 300 people attended the event, including community members, our founding residents and their families, representatives from the many construction companies/subcontractors who worked on the building, Concordia management and Board Members, local member church pastors, politicians and more. The event included delicious food and drink, tours of the building/model apartments, a presentation and ribbon cutting ceremony, and the beautiful music of River City Brass.

After a brief introduction from Concordia at Rebecca Residence Executive Director Mike Kaufman, Concordia President and CEO Keith Frndak spoke to the crowd about the history of the two organizations (Rebecca Residence and Concordia) and how they intersected. He went on to thank the Concordia Board and Planning Committee, architects, builders, staff and, most importantly, the residents who put their faith in Concordia before even seeing the building.

Concordia Board Chairman Steve Johnson also addressed the crowd, quoting Psalm 118:24 and recognizing the foresight of past Board Members to have a vision for a retirement community in this area - and the patience required to work on it for a decade. Concordia’s Director of Chaplaincy Jack Hartman conducted a blessing on the building and those who will live there, and Concordia Chief Operating Officer Brian Hortert closed the ceremony with a champagne toast and the ceremonial ribbon cutting, featuring all of the founding residents in attendance.

Perhaps the most appropriate visual of the day came in the form of a cross being created in the sky above the building – by total chance.

Highpointe will host an Oktoberfest-themed Open House on October 15 for anyone interested in seeing the building for themselves and enjoying some delicious German food and drink!
